How Do I Set Up a New Google Account for Android?

Why Use a Different Google Account?

It is possible that your (ex-)partner knows the password to your Google/Android account. The aim is to cut off that access.

A Google account is required on Android smartphones for app updates, and it is always linked to an email address.

First, block your (ex-)partner’s phone number. See How Do I Block an Incoming Phone Number on My Smartphone?

However, data is still being transmitted from the mobile phone to the manufacturer. In the case of Android phones, this data is sent to Google. This can be a problem if your (ex-)partner has access to your Android account.

What Data Can Google Access?

Recommended Solution

If you are unsure whether your (ex-)partner has access to your account, you can create a guest account. This is a second account on your phone. If you use the phone with the new account, your (ex-)partner will not have access to the data in that account.

You can then decide whether you want to delete your old account.

If you delete an account, all data stored in the cloud under that account will also be deleted. Make sure you have a backup before deleting it. Only then you should delete an account.
